Fin Clipping at Seymour Salmon Hatchery
Posted on July 11th, 2007 by Rodney Hsu, webmaster

The Seymour Salmon Hatchery will be doing fin clipping on their coho salmon fry on July 12th, 14th and 15th. Each season, juvenile coho salmon raised in the hatchery have their adipose fin clipped before being released as a method to seperate them from the wild population. The Seymour Salmon Hatchery is located in the Seymour Conservative Reserve in North Vancouver. Operated by the Seymour Salmonid Society, the hatchery's goal is to re-established many lost salmonid runs in the Seymour River.
