Season Update by STS Guiding Service
Posted on October 17th, 2006 by Vic Carrao, STS Guiding Service
Fishing has been RED HOT this past 2 weeks for sturgeon, we have been landing good numbers of large fish in the 6 to 8 ft range with lots of smaller fish. For example , yesterday we had 7 boats out sturgeon fishing, over 100 sturgeon were landed in total with 12 fish over 5 ft, 3 fish over 7 feet 1 over 8 ft. 4 of the 7 boats landed at least 1 fish over 7 ft, that's great fishing!
Salmon fishing has been very good for Chum Salmon, Coho are just starting to show up in numbers. Matt hooked a couple nice Coho yesterday casting spoons after his clients were too tired to reel in another sturgeon. Most of our salmon charters have been on the Harrison River but now that the Coho are showing up, casting spoons and spinner and fly fishing the Fraser are both going to produce results.
Trout fishing has been excellent this past week. We spend a couple days fly-fishing on the Lillooet River fishing for Bull Trout and Rainbows. We managed 2 fish over 24 inches, a couple in the 20 inch range and lots of fish between 10- 14 inches. Most of these fish are feeding on single eggs and are eager to take a well presented fly. The Pitt has fished well this past week with a few Coho starting to show up, good numbers of trout and even the odd Chinook on the fly.
Over the next 4 weeks we will be into some of our best fishing of the year. Both salmon and sturgeon fishing will be at it's best. This years mild weather will make for some great conditions right through until the end of November. Take advantage of our cancellations and available dates.
