Fall Fishing Fair

The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC (FFSBC) wants to get more people out fishing in British Columbia. To promote freshwater fishing, FFSBC and the Victoria Fish and Game Club will host the “Fall Fishing Fair” at the Malahat Fish & Game Club property on September 30th. The Malahat Fish & Game Club property is at the top of the Malahat on Holker Road in Victoria. This year's event will be hosted between 10:00am and 3:00pm. All activities are free!

The goal of this event is to provide families of all ages with a fun-filled and successful environment to learn how and where to fish and how to conserve fish habitat. Volunteer instructors from local fishing clubs will be on site to teach young and old the basics of angling, fly-casting, and fly-tying. The Learn to Fish Program developed by the Freshwater Fisheries Society will be in full swing. There will be fishing games and activities, prizes, food, and information on responsible freshwater fishing on Vancouver Island. The lake at the Fish & Game Club will be stocked by the Vancouver Island Trout Hatchery, so that young peoples’ first fishing experience will be a memorable one. Each participant will be given a “passport” that will reward them with prizes for learning the different fishing techniques at the fair. Everyone is welcome so come and enjoy the fun at the second annual Fall Fishing Fair.
