Tree Planting at Jackman Wetlands
Posted on April 22nd, 2006 by Lisa Dreves
The Bertrand Creek Enhancement Society is hosting a tree planting event at the Jackman Wetlands south of Aldergrove on Sunday April 23 from 10:00 to 2:00. I know this is late notice but I truly believed the community would have no problem planting the trees but now… I’ve just spent over an hour unloading the 1265 plants that we need to get in the ground and it looks a little daunting!
I would like to extend the invitation out to you – and feel free to pick up a friend that lives in Aldergrove that might want to become a member of the BCES!
The bonuses of joining us:
- You get to check out a unique site that is not yet open to the public
- If you get bored of planting the man-made wetlands are a great spot to do a little birding
- You get to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday AND Sunday
- Planting a giant big leaf maple is a great way to kick of the week of Arbour Day
- We have lots of little and big plants so kids can be a huge help AND everyone gets to show off their muscles lifting the big pots
- Getting outside! And the even bigger bonus – you might get an excuse to go outside in the rain!!
Please feel free to join us. To find the site head south on 272 St. from Fraser Hwy and just keep going until about the 1100 block, the driveway is on the west side of 272 St. across from the Langley Transfer Station, just drive right in, there is plenty of parking once you are in the “park”.
Have a wonderful Earth Day!
