| December 25th, 2005: Boxing Day Derby
Update
Those of you who have bought a ticket for the Boxing Day Derby
in Chilliwack probably have noticed that the river condition is
not very good due to heavy rainfall and mild temperature in the
past few days. Tomorrow's fishing condition will most likely remain
the same and there is a chance that it will be canceled and postponed
to the following weekend. Cancellation of the derby will not be
announced until 9:00am on Derby Day if it is canceled. We'll do
our best to post latest updates up ASAP so be sure to check back
on the website regularly.
Here is a notice that we received from the organizer this morning
at 11:00am:
At 9:00 am this morning the Chilliwack/Vedder River was high
and muddy and the forecast is for rain 90 % today and 80 % tomorrow.
The expectation are low for holding a successful derby tomorrow.
According to Rule # 14, an official announcement will be made
on Boxing Day at 9:00 am at the Fish and Game Clubhouse.
According to rule # 15, IF the derby is cancelled it will be
rescheduled for Sunday, January 1, 2006 and the same derby format
will apply.
There is no refund on tickets.
If you have any questions you may call me at 604-858-3257.
Tickets will be on sale at the clubhouse on Derby Day (when
ever that may be) from 6:00 am to 10:00 am.
With outdoor recreation, weather is always the final determining
factor.
Remember the Boxing Day Sales at the local tackle stores: Fred's
Custom Tackle, Chilliwack Dart and Tackle, Hub Sports, Reaction
Fly and Tackle, and Kent Outdoors.
At 2:00pm, Chris has sent us this message:
I just received a call from Dave who is the chairman of the
annual Boxing Day Derby on the Chilliwack Vedder River. Because
of the extremly high and unfishable water condition he has unofficially
cancelled the derby for tomorrow and the plan is to hold it next
Sunday, January 1 2006. If it does not go then it will be held the
following Sunday.
He wanted me to post this for those planning to fish the derby
from the Vancouver area an unnessary trip.
Following
the derby in the discussion forum!
