| October 30th, 2005: Upcoming Steelhead
Summit
Announcing Steelhead Summit VII: SW Washington/Oregon
The
Steelhead Summit is a bi-annual gathering of concerned groups, anglers
and citizens to discuss the latest issues facing steelhead throughout
the Northwest and California. Jointly these groups make up the Steelhead
Summit Alliance which work together on behalf of the protection
and restoration of native, wild steelhead.
The Agenda includes presentations from noted scientists working
on fisheries and habitat research as well as discussion of public
policy important to steelhead advocates. This summit will be the
7th of its kind and the first in the SW Washington and Oregon area.
We encourage groups that haven't taken part in the past but are
concerned with steelhead issues to join us.
New to this summit, we are offering great door prizes, including
items donated by Patagonia and the State of the Salmon. We are also
offering, for the first time, an optional field trip on Sunday –
if there’s a critical mass. Fish First and the Lower Columbia
Basin Fish Enhancement Group are offering to tour people around
some habitat restoration projects, followed by a BBQ lunch sponsored
by the Clark-Skamania Fly Fishers. If you want to go on this field
trip, please contact Dick Kennon quickly!
