| September 19th, 2005: Indian River
Pink Salmon Egg Take
From Seymour
Salmonid Society:
Hi Everyone,
We will heading up to the Indian River this thursday for our first
pink salmon egg take. Looking for 4 volunteers to help out (Limited
due the space for traveling in. There might be more room in other
trucks or boat heading in, but I waiting to confirm more info in
this regards). We will be meeting at the Rice Lake Gate for 6:45am,
leaving no later than 7:00am. We should be back by 5:00pm at the
Rice Lake Gate.
You will need waders, rain gear, change of clothes and a lunch.
Let me know if you are interested. At the moment, I only have room
for 4 people, so first come basis, but I'm expected more space will
be available in other trucks or boats heading in?
If you haven't done this will us before, it's quite the spectular
trip and well worth you while to participate in. We will also be
heading back into the Indian for Chum salmon egg take in November,
so there will be another opportunity if you are unable to attend
this trip.
We plan to take approx. 200,000 eggs this trip. We will also be
taking 1.8 million from the Chilliwack River this year starting
in mid October. Needless to say, there will we lot's of opportunities
to participate in Chilliwack pink egg takes for volunteers. I'll
keep you posted.
Thanks,
James Weger
