in B.C.'s Salmon Forests"
What: Join Fin Donnelly of the Rivershed Society of B.C. and students
from UBC's Earth & Ocean Sciences as they present "Living
sustainably in BC's salmon forests."
Where: Mountain Equipment Co-op - 130 W Broadway Avenue, Vancouver
When: 7:00 pm Friday, April 8th 2005
Background: Fin's multi-media presentation will take you on a journey
along with program participants, as they travel by raft and canoe
1,200 km down the Fraser River - the greatest salmon river on Earth!!
The RSBC's "Sustainable Living Leadership Program" educates
emerging leaders about salmon, sustainable living and community
stewardship. Come learn about this intense 3-week outdoor education
program, which combines theory with experiential learning.
UBC students from Earth & Ocean Sciences are studying how the
salmon forest is affected by human impact along the Fraser River,
come listen to what they have discovered as they capture your imagination
with this intricate relationship between salmon, bears, trees, and
riversheds. They will present solutions on how we can live together
with less of an impact on the dynamic salmon forest.
