The Thompson Nicola region has the best of two worlds. This area has hundreds of lakes where world class rainbow trout fishing can be found between spring and fall. These rainbow trout, as big as 8lb, are a challenge on a fly fishing rod. In the winter months, some lakes also offer good ice fishing for rainbow trout and brook trout. The Shuswap watershed has chinook and sockeye salmon returning in summer and fall, openings are often available. The Thompson River offers great dry fly fishing for rainbow trout between July and September, while its steelhead fishery between October and December draws avid anglers from all corners of the world. |
