A Worm under a Bobber

Tis' the salmon season, and the rivers sure get busy around this time of the year. It almost seems to be a festive ritual. Hundreds of people choose to wake up at 4:00am on their days off, and rush to the river bank before dawn. We do it for the hope of getting into some nice fish, a rush that non-fishers will never understand.

During this chaotic period, it also brings out the worst of many. The stake is high, prime fishing spots are worth like gold to a salmon fanatic. Sharing is often excluded from this equation, especially when an individual appears to be a newcomer.

The division on the river has become more apparent each season. Certain anglers are often stereotyped as unlawful fishers simply based on the clothings that they wear or the equipment that they carry. There seems to be no room for inexperienced anglers anymore these days. It baffles me why there is even a need to mock at those who maybe just trying to learn what you love to do.

Maybe their equipment do not match your standard, maybe their waders are not branded, but do not forget we both share one commonality - To have fun in the outdoors. By taking a moment to share your knowledge and space, you can make a splendid fishing day for everyone.

Having tolerance when out on the river is important. After all, we all started out with a worm under a bobber.
