Introducing 2004/2005 FWR Title Sponsors
By Rodney Hsu
The first half of 2004 has been a period
of excitement for Fishing with Rod and things are about to get even
better! Four years ago, I recognized that there was a need to emphasize
the grassroot of fishing, because majority of BC fishing publications
have a tendency to focus on exotic flyfishing destinations and various
other fisheries that are profitable. Not that there is anything
wrong with it, but there was a lack of resource for younger generations
and newcomers who wish to learn from the basics.
What began as a hobby, has turned into
a small viable business after four years. In the last 12 months,
Fishing with Rod has grown from receiving 100,000 to 500,000 page
views per month and we are still growing exponentially! As we grow
larger, the cost to sustain this publication becomes larger. Luckily,
I am happy to announce that islander Precision Reels, Stryker Rods
and Brandywine Marine are our new 2004 title sponsors. With their
generous support, we can continue to bring you instructional articles
and fantastic photography in the future.
Islander Precision Reels is a internationally
known company that specializes in fly, mooching and centerpin reels.
Its production is small, but the quality of its reels is ranked
top of the world. Its centerpin reels are every river fisherman's
dream. The smooth free spooling feature allows you to cast and drift
a presentation without flaws. Each reel is beautifully designed,
making them more than just a fishing tool, but an art form. Visit

Stryker Rods are made in Surrey, British
Columbia. Rod builder Russ Goodwin is the man behind the entire
operation. He personally hand builds each Stryker Rod. Stryker Rods
feature driftfishing rods for salmon and steelhead, as well as heavier
saltwater mooching rods and stillwater fly rods. Visit

Brandywine Marine has been a friend
of Fishing with Rod since Ray Ledward launched his boat building
business. Ray has over three decades of boat building behind him.
His Brandywine Flyers are stable and fast, making them ideal for
stillwater flyfishing addicts. Located in Maple Ridge, Ray is also
an angling enthusiasts so he understands the needs of a fisherman
when it comes to boats. Visit

We look forward to work with these
fantastic sponsors! I also hope you will show your support because
without them, FWR would not grow. We will continue to work hard
to give back to the fisheries and environment that we care so much
about. Stay tuned to find out about our future river cleanup programs
as well as kids fishing events.
